Three bungalows designed around open-to-sky courtyards that bring light, privacy, and connection.
This project comprises three bungalows developed on a subdivided plot. This presented an opportunity to shape an ensemble of houses with a cohesive relationship between them.
An open-to-sky courtyard sits at the heart of every house; each differs slightly and is tailored to the layout and site. The courtyard creates a focal point for daily living and brings natural light and ventilation into the elongated plot. Window placements are strategically offset between the houses to prevent overlooking while allowing each home to feel connected to its surroundings.

Floating volumes and layered forms define a modern architectural language.
The architectural language is defined by a series of floating blocks that slide across one another, creating a layered expression. Cantilevered ledges around the slab and ceiling lines, paired with textured grey finishes and floor-to-ceiling windows, accentuate this weightless effect.

The design strategically responds to the site’s topography, using the natural slope to create a dramatic double-height entry sequence. Daylight penetrates deep into the basement carporch through the sloping driveway, while open-to-sky courtyards at the lower level further illuminate subterranean spaces. The upper floors are interconnected by open-thread staircases with delicate screens on their sides, enhancing light flow and connectivity between levels.

Subtle variations give each bungalow its own identity within a cohesive whole.
The resulting collection of bungalows forms a cohesive and timeless ensemble, defined by clean lines and precise spatial planning. Thoughtful variation in plane composition, fenestration, and courtyard placement ensures each home maintains its own character while harmonising with its neighbours.
